Nonpartisan Election Protection volunteer

We need your help to protect voters’ rights from the unprecedented threats they will face this year when trying to cast their ballot. Nonpartisan Election Protection volunteers like you will be voters’ first line of defense against restrictive election laws, coronavirus-related voting disruptions, or anything else that could silence their voices.
We’ll help you find the best way to get involved — whether that’s monitoring polling places (from your vehicle, or with proper personal safety equipment), watchdogging social media for disinformation, or reaching out to voters to make sure they know their rights. You’ll connect voters with trained legal professionals who can help them navigate the voting process and cast their ballots safely and securely.

Louisville Urban League Rides to the Polls

The Louisville Urban League is doing a lot to get people to the polls this election. We are reaching out to 3,000+ neighbors who have recently had their voting rights restore. We want to make sure these men and women have the information and support they need to register and vote. We will be canvassing neighborhoods and transporting people to the polls.

One of the issues evident to community poll watchers at the Fairground site was the accessibility issue because the parking is so far from the entrance. The walk would be challenging for anyone with mobility issues.
So a collaborative group from the Poor Peoples campaign, LSURJ Faith and others came up with a plan to help. We have rented two wheelchairs. We are seeking volunteer help to cover shifts through Nov 2nd from Monday through Saturdays. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons between now and the election are covered. Since the polls are open 8:30 – 4:30, we are asking folks to signup for 2 hour shifts, preferably taking two of them to cover 4 hours, but all are welcome.
Duties: chairs will be at the Fairgrounds. Volunteers will wait as people approach to ask if wheelchair assistance is desired after describing the distance to the polling stations. Accompaniers will taken people in chairs to and from the registration table, saving a lot of steps!
Be a county vote reporter (paid position)
Edison Research is looking for County Vote Reporters. These people get the results from their county and call them in to Edison for tabulation across the state.
Currently, we are looking for County Vote Reporters in Carlisle, Clinton, Grant, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Hopkins, McLean, Magoffin, Marion, Martin, Meade, Menifee, Monroe, Morgan, Muhlenberg, Powell, Russell, Shelby, Spencer, Todd, Trimble, Union, Wayne and Webster.
On November 3rd, they would report to their local county courthouse at 5:30. Each and every time vote results are released they would report the totals to us. The position pays $85.00 for the evening. In preparation for the evening, reporters must complete a mandatory rehearsal call that takes less than 10 minutes.
