This was my first governor’s inauguration, so I cannot speak to how this one compared with other such events. What I CAN say is that when it came to the parade, it was COLD and the crowds were SPARSE.
But, cold or no, crowds or no, the parade must go on. And as a former high school band director, I could certainly sympathize with the young people having to try to play an instrument or twirl a flag in bone-chilling weather – not to mention the other groups walking or riding the entire parade route. They ignored the cold and helped celebrate our new governor.
Here are some of the pictures that Berry Craig and I took to capture the parade. I was in the last set of bleachers before the reviewing stand, which turned out to be a good place to see everyone put on their best for the new gov.
