On Thursday of last week, every county in Kentucky did a recanvass of the election for governor. A recanvass is basically a check of the math from the election: Did we add the numbers from the voting machines correctly?
The process is straightforward – you take the tapes from the machines and re-add the vote totals to get a final count for the votes in the county in that race. It’s a bi-partisan process, with multiple people doing the adding, and with each major party allowed to have observers.
