Rand Paul is angry, very angry — for a very good reason, as he made clear in an interview with Fox Business. Ahead of the January 5 runoff elections, Georgia is mailing information to eligible voters that they can vote by mail. Some people might say that this is a pretty good idea during a pandemic, but what do these people know? Rand Paul — and I can’t stress this enough, this is a direct quote — is unhappy because: “I’m very, very concerned that if you solicit votes from typically non-voters, that you will affect and change the outcome.”

Ordinary voters affecting, maybe even changing the outcome? Of an election? No, we can’t have this. This is America! As Republicans, Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue obviously have the right to pick and choose the right voters to ensure the right outcome.

Just consider what would happen if ordinary voters would affect the outcome. Again Rand Paul, again a direct quote: “I am very worried that Democrats will control all three branches of government*, and they really truly will transform America.”

Can you imagine? Ordinary voters, who might not vote all the time, deciding to get involved and this leading to a transformation of America? That sounds awfully democratic, and we really don’t want that, right?

* Yeah, US Senator Rand Paul thinks that the President, the House, and the Senate are the three branches of government.
