If Kentucky voters are successful in finally voting our senior senator our of office, what could Mitch McConnell do for his next act?
How about (poorly) hosting his own talk show?
That, at least, is the premise of “The Mitch Show,” an online satirical look at the former Majority Leader of the Senate as the host of his own talk show. The show debuts on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 7:00 PM Eastern, and can be viewed on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
The show is the work of a new super-PAC called “We Are the Deciders LLC” that is registered with the FEC. The grassroots PAC has raised enough money to fund the debut episode, and hopes that enough people will like what they see to keep the show going.
They’ve also registered a web site, MitchShow.com, and have posted a preview video of the show on the site.
From their press release:
Louisville actor/comedian Nathan P. Woodard plays McConnell, the show’s bumbling host. He shares the stage with McConnell’s purported sidekick and bandleader, played by a puppet named Little Rand, who directs his band, The Libertones. Kentucky comedians Mandee McKelvey, Vidalia Unwin, and Keith McGill join Woodward to round out the show’s ensemble cast and writing staff.
In addition to the cast, the show will also include interviews with actual Kentuckians as themselves, talking about actual issues across the state, such as the Massey Energy coal slurry spill. And, Kentucky musicians will be on the show as well, such as the rock group Motocop performing “I’ve Been Thinking,” a song written specifically for the Mitch Show.
