Some updates from the Kentucky Senate race as we head into the final days before the primary.
Fund-raising
For the fourth quarter in a row, Amy McGrath’s campaign has out-raised the Mitch McConnell campaign. Even more surprising, her campaign actually has more cash on hand than his campaign.
Here’s the numbers for all four major candidates, straight from the FEC:

Of course, this doesn’t include any monies raised or spent by outside groups, including “dark money” where nothing has to be reported.
Polling in the race
McGrath vs McConnell
As reported in Newsweek, a recent poll by RMG Group shows McGrath leading McConnell by 1 point, 41% to 40%. However, when voters were told that McGrath supports term limits, and McConnell does not, her support jumped.
Here’s the numbers once voters learned about the term limit difference:
- McGrath – 45%
- McConnell – 30%
- Undecided – 17%
- Another candidate – 8%
Booker vs McGrath
The Charles Booker campaign did a press release stating that their internal polling shows him closing the gap between him and Amy McGrath, even with his lower name recognition. Here’s the numbers as shared by the campaign (no external verification provided):
- January: McGrath/Booker 65-7
- April: McGrath/Booker 62-11
- May: McGrath/Booker 62-13
- June: McGrath / Booker 44-37
According to the Booker campaign, over 20% of voters polled had not heard of him. The campaign believes their advertising campaign can help more people learn about Booker and help close the polling gap.
