That person shared it with us, and we thought we’d share it with you. Nothing new here – just interesting to see the McConnell spin in print.

Dear Ms. XXXX,
Thank you for contacting me regarding the impeachment inquiry against President Trump. I appreciate your sharing your views with me, and I welcome this opportunity to respond.
From the very beginning of this presidency, President Trump’s opponents have been obsessed with nullifying the decision the American people made in November 2016, and they are using impeachment to do it. Overruling American voters and nullifying an election is the gravest act in which the House of Representatives can engage. Any impeachment process must be conducted with the utmost fairness and transparency. The current process unfolding in the House, however, is unprecedented and undemocratic. For the first time in American history, the House has refused to hold a vote on a presidential impeachment inquiry. It has refused to give the minority party and the president the same basic due process and fair treatment that it afforded previous presidents. Furthermore, the focus on this all-consuming impeachment parade is blocking important legislation that we need to pass for the American people.
Here in the Senate, my colleagues and I have continued to keep our focus squarely on the substantive work that we need to complete for the American people. We are overcoming delay tactics and obstruction to confirm more of the president’s impressive nominees for the executive branch and the judiciary. We are also working on the appropriations process to provide funding for our Armed Forces and urgent domestic priorities. We will continue to do our part to make laws that will benefit American families, and it is time for the other side to join us to deliver real solutions. Please rest assured I will keep your thoughts in mind as the 116th Congress proceeds.
