The Washington Post polled every Republican in Congress on three questions:

Here’s the result:
Not one of our seven Congressional Republicans answered “Yes” to any of those questions.
A few of them made mealy-mouthed statements weeks ago, such as “we must respect the process” and “all allegations should be investigated.” But even now, after all the swing states have certified their results, and the Trump team has lost 39 of their 40 court challenges, our Republican elected representatives refuse to acknowledge that Biden has won … AND, they refuse to say whether they will accept him as the legitimately elected president.
Even worse – out of all 249 Republicans in the U.S. House and Senate, only a handful gave the logical and honorable answers to this poll.
- Who won? 26 said Joe Biden, 2 said Donald Trump, and the other 221 did not answer.
- Support or oppose Trump’s efforts to overturn? 9 opposed, 8 supported, 232 silent.
- Accept Biden as legitimate president? 31 yes, 2 no, 216 no answer.
The fear that Republicans, including our Kentucky seven, have of both Donald Trump and his cult followers is both amazing and disheartening. If they continue to refuse to accept the results, they will do even more serious damage to our democracy.
It’s time for Comer, Guthrie, Massie, Barr, Rogers, Paul, and McConnell to grow a spine and stand up to the conspiracy mongers and the cult members. Otherwise, they will be part of the large volume about Republicans under Trump – “Profiles in Cowardice.”
