The state AFL-CIO is sponsoring a letter-writing campaign to the Beshear impeachment committee, urging them to drop the impeachment. You can take part at this link. You can use their stock letter, or write your own. I chose to write my own. Here it is.

Dear electeds,

We all have to make tough choices in life. Some of those choices are personal; some affect other people. In the case of impeaching Governor Beshear, your choice will affect an entire state.

Governor Beshear has had his own tough choices to make. Some of them you haven’t agreed with. Some of them _I_ haven’t agreed with. But, there is no doubt that his decision to make those tough choices has saved lives, and actually enabled our state to get back to work and school sooner than some other states.

I understand you are frustrated with what you see as a lack of collaboration. I get that. (I wrote about it.)

But throwing him out of office will do way, way more damage than he, and we, deserve.

Please, make the tough choice (which frankly, to me, is not that tough) and throw this impeachment petition into the round file. That is what it deserves.

And then you, and the Governor, sit down in private and figure out a better way to do this, on both sides.

THAT is the choice we expect of our elected officials.
