Friends of the Earth Action, the political action arm of Friends of the Earth, today endorsed Rep. Charles Booker in his run for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.

In their press release, Ariel Moger, political coordinator with Friends of the Earth Action, issued the following statement:

“Mitch McConnell is a corrupt corporate shill whose time in Congressional leadership should have expired long ago. McConnell has consistently sided with corporate interests and big polluters instead of protecting people and the planet. Even as our country grapples with coronavirus, McConnell is more concerned with ramming unqualified conservative judges through the Senate than giving suffering Americans any relief.

“Charles Booker is a true progressive who will emphatically fight for a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and economic justice. He is exactly the type of leader we need in Congress and we know that he would be the best person to represent the great state of Kentucky. Friends of the Earth Action is proud to endorse Charles Booker and we urge voters in Kentucky to send him to Congress.”

Rep. Booker’s response to the endorsement:

“I’m proud to receive this support. I am running to enact a Kentucky New Deal that creates tens of thousands of jobs across the Commonwealth, puts people to work restoring our land, water, and air, and slows down the negative effects of climate change.”

Booker is running against Amy McGrath and Mike Broihier, both retired Marines. His campaign site is here.
