More endorsements hit the inbox as we get closer to the June primary.
Rep. Charles Booker (U.S. Senate primary)
The Booker campaign announced endorsement from the two black State Senators in Kentucky, Gerald Neal of Louisville and Reggie Thomas of Lexington. Senator Neal is the longest-serving member of the Kentucky Senate, and only the second black person in the history of the Commonwealth to hold that office. In the press release, Senator Neal released this statement:
“The last days and months have been difficult in Louisville, in Kentucky, and across the United States. The protests and police violence have shown that Kentucky is in need of a new Senator who understands our community and will fight for all Kentuckians. I have known and worked with Charles Booker and witnessed his growth as such a leader. He is the right person, at the right time to defeat Mitch McConnell, and lead our state into the future.”
In the same press release, Senator Thomas released this statement:
“Charles is a visionary leader for all Kentuckians. He understands that healthcare is a right, he is a champion of public education, and he fully understands the need to elevate the voices of Black people in every sector. Especially given the racial tension throughout the country right now, I believe Charles is well equipped to bring Kentuckians together and to carry our Commonwealth forward. On behalf of Fayette County and our entire Commonwealth, I strongly give my support to Charles Booker.”
With these endorsements, Rep. Booker has received endorsements from the entire Kentucky Legislative Black Caucus. In addition to Rep. Booker, that caucus includes:

- Representative Reggie Meeks
- Representative Attica Scott

Dr. Alexandra Owensby (U.S. Congress – 4th District)
The campaign of Dr. Owensby announced that she has been endorsed by Linda Nesbitt, former chair of the Campbell County Democratic Party. Included in Nesbitt’s endorsement statement is the following:
“Over my lifetime and decades of civic and political engagement, I cannot recall another era in which we have needed focused, decent, compassionate leadership more than now. If we are ever to achieve the dream of that “more perfect union,” we must elect new leaders dedicated to working for us, who will seek honest, commonsense, workable solutions to the challenges we face.
“To that end, I ask you to join me in helping to elect Alexandra Owensby as our District 4 Representative to the United States Congress. That journey begins with our vote for Alexandra in the Kentucky Primary Election as our Democratic nominee.
“As the recently-retired chair of the Campbell County Democratic Party, I have watched Alexandra work for the nomination of our party for well more than a year.
