A critic once reviewed a Broadway play by writing, “Such-and-such play opened on Broadway last night. Why?”
That same question seems pertinent to some recent political news:
Carroll Hubbard is running for the Kentucky House. Why?
I mean, this is the same Carroll Hubbard who went to Federal prison for two years for violating campaign finance laws.
And, this is the same Carroll Hubbard who stood in the Bardwell Methodist Church after he got out of prison and swore that “his days in the political arena were over and that he was going to dedicate the rest of his life to Christian witnessing.” (Maybe he had his fingers crossed?)
And finally, this is the same Carroll Hubbard who recently changed his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican — most likely because he thinks that will make it easier for him to win.
So, here’s hoping that the voters in Kentucky House District 1 have the same reaction to Hubbard running as that long-ago critic had to that Broadway play: “Hubbard is running? Why?”
And that those same voters will then follow that obvious question with the obvious answer: “Hubbard can run all he wants; I’m voting for the other person. I don’t need to see this show again.”
