The “Booker for Senate” campaign has released a new ad, accompanied by what they are calling a “six-figure digital ad campaign.”
The press release says the ads in the campaign will present Booker as the “real Democrat in the race” to challenge Senator Mitch McConnell in the fall, as compared to the “Republican-lite campaign being run by Amy McGrath.” No mention is made of Mike Broihier, the other significant candidate in the race.
From the press release:
“When you understand the challenges that Kentuckians face, you don’t oppose Medicare for All, and you sure don’t run as a pro-Trump Democrat,” said Charles Booker. “Elections matter, and the choice in this election is clear.”
The ad attempts to contrast Booker and McGrath on such issues as health care coverage, and says that Booker has lived with the issues that “other politicians just talk about.” In addition, the Booker campaign says their aim is to mobilize young people, low-income Kentuckians, and voters of color – voters who have “stayed home on Election Day for previous Democrats who ran against McConnell with the failing McGrath playbook.”
Both Booker and Broihier have started attacking McGrath, the presumed front-runner, in recent days, and both are running digital ads taking her on. The McGrath campaign, on the other hand, has stayed focus on the general election and McConnell.
