A short story about a little deal: the Publisher’s Blog is back.

When the site had a sidebar (column of stuff on the right), I included a category of posts called PubBlog. It comes from the EdBlog column that Josh Marshall uses on Talking Points Memo. (And if you’re not reading TPM, you should be.)

While Josh uses it for both long and short posts, my goal was to use it for short posts that didn’t deserve the full “featured” treatment. There are times when, as publisher, I want to explain something, or call attention to something, or just muse a little. That’s what PubBlog is for.

When we redesigned the site to take away the sidebar, I stopped doing PubBlog posts, because I didn’t want them in either the Featured or Latest story blocks on the front page. Recently, I’ve come across things that fit the PubBlog model, so yesterday I added another block to the bottom of the home page to hold the PubBlog posts. And, I posted a new one on some abbreviations we use on here. (A perfect example of what PubBlog is for.)

So, as I said at the top, not a big deal at all, and probably not of interest to anyone but me. But, I thought it needed explaining.

You can always find the latest entries by scrolling to the bottom of the home page. Thanks!
