As lawmakers rushed to pass bills over the final two days of the session before “veto days,” there were some bills that just didn’t make it. A few made it part way, but others never even got heard in committee. Here are seven that didn’t make it – and won’t, unless they get pushed through in the final two days of the session, in between veto overrides.
- Senate Bill 5 — Liability protections for businesses who get sued for COVID negligence
- Senate Bill 11 — Makes “insulting a police officer” a crime; passed Senate, not House
- Senate Bill 83 — Allows healthcare workers to refuse to provide health care if doing so would violate their conscience; passed Senate Judiciary, but got no further
- Senate Bill 48 — Open records exception for information about a “public officer”
- SB 30 / HB 19 — Ban on so-called “conversion therapy”; never even heard in committee
- West End TIF — Plan to use a tax-increment financing zone to spur investment in Louisville’s west end; never even heard in committee
- House Bill 193 — The Transportation Budget; withdrawn because they just ran out of time to take it up
