Governor Andy Beshear announced two events for Thursday, September 10, to be held in honor of and because of the 1,000 Kentucky deaths due to COVID-19.
Wreath-Laying Ceremony (10:00 AM)
Gov. Beshear will be joined by the Kentucky State Police Honor Guard and the Handbell Ensemble from First United Methodist Church in Frankfort.
The Kentucky State Police Honor Guard will place a wreath in the Capitol rotunda in honor of the more than 1,000 Kentuckians who have died from causes related to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The Handbell Ensemble from First United Methodist Church in Frankfort will ring bells during the wreath-laying ceremony. Ensemble members performing are: Roy Nance, Director; Don Hughes; Paul Mauer and Larry Sturm.
The event will be live-streamed via Facebook and YouTube.
Address to the Commonwealth (5:30 PM)
With the commonwealth hitting six months of battling COVID-19 and surpassing 1,000 of our people lost to the deadly virus, Gov. Beshear will speak directly to Kentuckians about the state’s ongoing fight, rising to the challenge to defeat the coronavirus and the undeterred effort to build a better Kentucky.
The address should last about 15 minutes, and will be live-streamed via Facebook and YouTube.
