The Amy McGrath campaign confirmed that she will take part in two debates before the November election, but the Farm Bureau forum will not be one of them.
McGrath accepted invitations from WDRB-TV and from KET. Both debates will be both broadcast on regular television and live-streamed on social media platforms.
- The WDRB debate has yet to be firmly scheduled, but will be sometime in late September or early October. It will be moderated by Lawrence Smith. The station also invited Senator McConnell and Libertarian Brad Barron to participate.
- The KET Kentucky Tonight Forum will be on October 26, and will be hosted by Renee Shaw. KET has invited McConnell and Barron as well.
The McGrath campaign noted that she had challenged Senator McConnell to three debates, and said that the campaign is working with other media outlets to firm up a third debate.
However, apparently the Kentucky Farm Bureau forum will not be one of them. There was no official announcement from the McGrath campaign about it, but the Farm Bureau released a statement saying it was “disappointed that Ms. McGrath has chosen not to participate in this forum.” When asked why she was not participating in the Farm Bureau forum as she was leaving an event, McGrath did not respond.
