In the past few days, there have been peaceful and meaningful demonstrations all across the state of Kentucky. From large cities to small towns, people have gathered to show their anger at the unnecessary deaths of people of color, to show support for people in their community, and to say it is time for change.
We wanted to share some of these, so people could see it is not just people in Louisville and Lexington that care about these issues. We already did a story and photo gallery on the demonstration in Mayfield. Here are some others.
Danville
From ForwardKY contributor Nick Lacy: “Danville blew my mind this evening…at least 300 people gathered in Constitution Plaza for 2 hours or so…police cooperated by shutting down a portion of downtown to allow a short march…just amazing…never seen such a gathering.”
Harlan

The sole focus of the Harlan protest was support for the BLM, and justice for Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. But there is an existing fight for justice in coal country, one that also deprives innocent people of their breath, making this show of solidarity all the more powerful.

Bardstown
(via KY Standard) The courthouse square became the center of attention Sunday as a group of protesters stood and marched in solidarity for more than seven hours, decrying a recent spate of African American deaths at the hands of law enforcement around the country. (No pictures available, unfortunately.)
Louisville “flash” rally to End White Silence
There was a noon “flash” rally Monday at Jefferson Square in Louisville, organized by LSURJ and friends apparently in reaction to the David McAtee killing. Many faith leaders were at this rally. Photos by Del Ramey, ForwardKY contributor.
