Two of our photographers, Nick Lacy and Del Ramey, attended peaceful protests over the weekend in Danville and Louisville, and shot the photo galleries that we’re sharing with you below. And, there was a small protest in Grand Rivers, a small Kentucky Lake resort community, and Daniel Hurt, one of our readers, was able to get a picture of that as well.

Over 70 folks showed up on short notice Friday to express their concern about the recent number of murders of African-Americans by self-styled vigilantes and police: George Floyd in Minneapolis. Breonna Taylor in Louisville. Ahmaud Arbery in Satilla Shores.
Stretched out for two blocks along 2nd Street, the historic and long-gone heart of Danville’s Black business district, the mostly masked (but not 6-feet apart) participants responded with clenched fists and peace signs to a surprisingly large number of honking cars passing by.

Green Rivers Protest
A small group gathered in Grand Rivers, a small Kentucky Lake-Lake Barkley resort community, to protest the killing of George Floyd. Population about 400, Grand Rivers is in Livingston County. Daniel Hurt saw them as he was out running an errand, and by the time he got back to take this photo, most of them had left.
