A revival preacher has posted an invitation to Kentucky pastors to meet with Governor Bevin at the official governor’s mansion in Frankfort. The meeting is scheduled for today, October 21, at 11 AM.
We have not been able to find any other reference to this event, and have not been able to confirm it via a second source. However, Governor Bevin has done something like this before. In 2016, before that year’s election, the governor hosted meetings of pastors at the governor’s mansion, in which he urged the pastors to “preach boldly” on moral or social issues, and noted that the pastors should not worry about the Johnson amendment, which forbids tax-exempt churches from advocating the election of particular candidates. The event was videoed by a participant, and reported by WFPL, among others.
Note that the invitation (below) specifically says not to record the event.
This year’s invitation is posted on the web site of Rick Curry, a life-long preacher and revival speaker, who tells stories of past revivals and urges prayer for revival today.
Here is the text of the invitation form on Curry’s site:
Kentucky Governor Mansion Invitation RSVP Form
Once you have submitted your information using the form below, we will send you a confirmation email that your name has been accepted and that you are on the list to attend. Please RSVP by Oct. 16 – Space is Limited
Governor Matt Bevin has invited Kentucky Pastors to meet with him at the governor’s mansion. If you have never had an occasion to hear first hand from our governor and be challenged as a pastor and minister, this is your opportunity. Governor Bevin seeks to inspire the Pastors of Kentucky to awaken and motivate a sleeping church. This time with Governor Bevin will be a very spiritual time.
Pastor, this invitation is for MONDAY, OCTOBER 21st, 11 am, EDT. We may have an opening song but then turn the time over to our governor so he might share what is on his heart and mind. Space is limited so if your spouse would like to attend, please submit their name and we will do what we can to accommodate.
You must submit the information in the form to be approved prior to the gathering to attend.
Please Note:
- You are going to the home of the highest elected office in our state so dress appropriately. Men; a suit. Ladies; Sunday best.
- Be there early. It will take some time to go through security. You can not enter the Governor’s mansion late. The governor’s mansion is in Frankfort right next to the state capital building. If you are looking at the front of the state capital, the governor’s mansion is to the left. There is limited street parking and a parking lot behind the annex building with free parking.
- Do not record any aspect of the gathering. There should be an opportunity to take a picture with the governor for your social media.
- If you personally connect with the governor or any of the staff, do so with honor and respect. You are representing the Lord.
- Once you have submitted your information we will send you a confirmation that your name has been accepted and that you are on the list. That is necessary for entry to the governor’s mansion.
- Bring a Photo ID with you
- Arrive Early
I Timothy 2: 1-4 “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Believing for a greater awakening with you,
Rick Curry
