The Kentucky Democratic Party is launching a number of measures to “ensure that all eligible voters in Kentucky are afforded a lawful opportunity to cast a ballot.”
A press release from the KDP says their “Voter Protection Program” includes the following:
- A “Voter Protection Hotline” at the easy-to-remember phone number of 1-833-GoVoteKY (1-833-468-6835).
- A statewide network of attorneys and trained volunteers to assist voters with questions or concerns
That second bullet is where the KDP is asking for volunteers. Some of the roles are open to anyone, while others are only for practicing attorneys. All involve training, though.
-
ANYONE: Assist voters who have questions via the Voter Hotline. No experience is needed for this role, but the volunteer must attend training.
-
ANYONE: Work at a polling location in your county on Election Day to assist voters. No experience is needed for this role, but the volunteer must attend training.
-
ATTORNEYS: Provide legal assistance to voters on Election Day. The volunteer must be a practicing attorney for this role.
If you want to volunteer, just go to this web site and sign up.
Also – have you checked your registration?
Speaking of protecting your vote – the deadline to register or correct your registration is this coming Monday, October 7, by 4 PM local time. You can go to GoVoteKY.com or check in with your county clerk. Double-check to make sure your voter registration is good to go!
