I was listening to President Trump give a news conference on his shenanigans with Ukraine when I realized something: there is only one man in the world who can persuade Donald Trump that his treatment of immigrants is harsh, cruel, and arbitrary. And that’s Trump himself!
All you have to do is look at the transcript of his pity-party press conference to realize that all the remarks he makes about himself apply three, four, five, TEN times as much to the godforsaken refugees he has caged up.
You look at all the people that they’ve tormented, all the legal fees. People came here with, with bright eyes. They wanted to make life so great for other people, and they left where they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees that they didn’t have, and it’s a sad thing. What these Democrats have done to ruin lives is so sad.

You know who also “came here with, with bright eyes”? Refugees who are fleeing torture squads, crooked police, narco-traffickers, civil wars, unrest arising from U.S.-backed coups, and a drought caused by global climate change. Tens of thousands of immigrants have been detained. And many get deported because they can’t find a lawyer; those who can spend “thousands of dollars in legal fees that they didn’t have.” See, Mr. President, according to that sage Donald Trump, this is completely unfair and what ICE “has done to ruin lives is so sad.”
If hefty legal fees and bad press constitute torment, what would we call what they’ve been doing to immigrants that have been caged, crowded into freezing-cold facilities, denied even soap and water? Seven children have died in custody. Now that really is a lot of “all the people that they’ve tormented”! Listen to Trump, Mr. President: That’s a sad thing!
These stories they write are corrupt. They’re so wrong, and they know that. You know, it used to be, I used to get great press until I ran for politics. I mean, I used to be the king of getting good press. I was very good at it and I got good. I mean, they covered me well for … Otherwise I probably wouldn’t be here. And once I ran I said, “Boy, this is incredible.” But if you see the way they treat, my family used to be treated great. My family works so hard. The people that work with me, these people, all of these people, they work so hard.

You know who also used to get good press until Donald Trump ran for office? Immigrants. With Trump’s arrival in politics, Fox News, never kind to minorities, went full white supremacist. Even though they work so hard at jobs Americans don’t want. And make many cities wealthier, including Utica, N.Y., and are helping keep schools open in Worthington, Minnesota and other rural areas.
And, Mr. Trump, let’s not get started on how we’re treating immigrant families.
President Trump, you like to have things both ways, but smart people see through that. Every single pitying comment you made about yourself applies many-fold to immigrants. So pay attention to your own words. Don’t live up to your hashtag #PresidentDunce.
