Your erstwhile reporter/editor attended the annual Wendell Ford Dinner, put on by the Kentucky Democratic Party. There was a good-sized crowd, the food was good, the jazz combo was solid, and the speeches were relatively short and effective.
Candidates Greg Stumbo and Heather French Henry had prior commitments and didn’t attend, but the rest of the Dem slate for the fall was there. In addition, Mayor Greg Fischer welcomed everyone, Senator Gerald Neal did the invocation, Congressman John Yarmuth emphasized the importance of winning this fall (after getting a rousing standing ovation when introduced), and Jacqueline Coleman served as emcee.
Here are some of the pictures I took of people at the event. I certainly didn’t get every important person there (so if your picture isn’t here don’t be upset). And, not every picture is as good as Berry Craig or Nick Lacy would take; I’m still on the JV when it comes to camera work.
Still, you will hopefully enjoy seeing some people you know and some you don’t, and getting a sense of the evening.
